How to Start Your Own Blog and Make Money

Blogs…you hear about them, but can YOU really start a blog?
The answer is YES! YOU can learn how to start your own blog and make money online!
Follow these basic steps, and you will make money. I doubt that you will get rich from it, though some people are earning extra cash everyday from doing it.
- First, think of a blog (or weblog) as simply a conversation between you and someone you know. Don’t worry too much about what to write…just write it. To do this of course, you’ll want to pick a topic that you really enjoy, and that you can easily talk about without having to do a lot of research. For example, if you are into crafts, then pick a specific type or style of craft, and just tell people about it.
- Once you’ve thought of a topic, now it’s time to get a free blog. Eventually, you may want to consider purchasing web hosting as I have always made more money with an actual .com than I have with a free blog. BUT, I DO make money online with free blogs too! I highly suggest blogger.com. It’s owned by Google in case you are wondering, and it’s really easy to work with. One of the first things you’ll want to do is pick a name for your blog once you go to blogger.com. Be creative in this step, and see if you can title it as something that someone would search for.
- Once you have your blog up and going, start writing blog posts. A blog post is simply you writing about your topic. It doesn’t have to be very long, maybe just a couple of hundred words, and sometimes even less. One of the most important things about a blog is regular content. By regular, I mean 2-3 posts per week, to keep it “fresh”.
- Show me the money! Once you get content going for several weeks (I recommend at least 10 posts and 2 weeks from the time you write your first post), it’s time to look for money makers like Google Adsense. It’s completely free, and you get paid when people click on ads that are on your site. This is a great way to earn extra cash because notice I said they click on your ads…they don’t have to buy anything! This is due to the fact that advertisers pay google for those clicks because those clicks are from people that are interested in that product or service. You get part of the money that Google gets for having that ad. Don’t worry, you don’t have to pick out the ads. You simply copy and paste some code onto your blog (on blogger, this goes in a widget) and the ads react to the content of your blog. If you have a recipe blog, the ads that appear will be food related, recipe related, possibly even kitchen and cookware related. That makes getting clicks easy, and getting paid even easier! And, you can do this from your recliner on a laptop, or in your pj’s at the kitchen table
Follow the steps above, let people know about your blog through Facebook or put a link to your blog in your email signature. Search for other blogs on your topic and leave legitimate comments and add a link to your blog. Get it going and sign up for Google Adsense for free, and then let me know.
