Make Money with Twitter

Posted by admin on September 7, 2010

Do you have a Twitter account?

If you don’t stop right now, and go get one, and then come back :)

Why?

Because you CAN make money with Twitter.

Twitter is simply a method of socializing with others.  The more people you socialize with, the more people see your posts.  There have been myriads of articles written on the importance of using social networks to improve your business or website traffic.

Follow these rules, and you can make money with Twitter:

Rule 1:  Socialize-this simply means do not post ONLY your money making posts over and over again.  (Many people do it, using the theology that the more it’s out there, the better chance you have of making money).  It can get you ignored by a lot of people.  Don’t tweet any more than 3 business related posts per day and be sure to have at least as many personal tweets.

Talk about things that interest you, how your day went, a new place you tried for lunch, etc.

Rule 2:  Don’t SPAM-this means do not contact people with your wonderful offer of website link unless they have asked for something from you.  It can also get you banned from Twitter. If you get banned, then you have no Twitter, and you have no way of making money with it.

Rule 3:  Find your market-what are you selling?  Do a Twitter search for some of the phrases associated with your market.  For example, if you have a blog about Dalmations, do Twitter searches looking for people with some of these words:

  • pets
  • dogs
  • Dalmations
  • puppies

Once you find those people, read some of their tweets to see if they post about their pet often.  If so, Follow them, and if you keep good enough content on your Twitter posts, they will follow you.  If they don’t, it’s not personal, so don’t take it that way.  Just move on.

Rule 4:  Engage-find someone who posts about their pet and reply to their Tweet.

Rule 5:  Use the Twitter Trends-you can see some Twitter Trends on the sidebar of your Twitter account.  Use only those that you can easily incorporate into your Tweet.  This can increase your following pretty quickly.  Don’t use completely unrelated TwitterTrends.

Good Twitter Trend example:  “#idoit2″  This can be used with almost anything.  For the Dalmation market, you could Tweet something like “Playing with my Dalmation is always entertaining.  #idoit2″

Bad Twitter Trend example:  “Bieber”  Unless you can really creatively relate your post about your Dalmation blog to Just Bieber fans somehow, don’t use this trend.  Otherwise, it’s looked down upon.  You don’t ever want to put a negative light on your Twitter account.  This loses potential customers.

These are just some simple rules to follow that can help you get followers, and potential customers.  Remember, no one likes to be sold anything.  Let them CHOOSE to buy from you, and odds are, they will become repeat customers.

You can also get paid to Tweet! Just don’t seek this opportunity until you build somewhat of a list of followers.  Otherwise, you won’t have many opportunities given to you.

But once you do get a following, check out:
